The nose is the central feature of the face. Whether it be due to genetics or trauma, this central feature can assume a configuration that bothers the patient. The patient may feel that their nose detracts from their other beautiful facial features. Cosmetic issues of the nose may or may not be accompanied by internal nasal deformities that affect one’s nasal breathing.  Some of the more common complaints patients have regarding their nose is a dorsal hump, drooping or wide/bulbus nasal tip, or nasal asymmetry/crookedness.

A properly performed rhinoplasty will address the patient’s cosmetic concerns as any internal nasal deformity such as a deviated, nasal septum or enlarged nasal turbinates.

A rhinoplasty is performed by making two small incisions inside the nostrils which are often connected by a single small incision across the skin that lies between the nostrils called the columella.  These incisions allow for the skin of the nose to be lifted off of the cartilage and bone that make up the structure of the nose. The nasal tip cartilage is as well as the cartilage and bone that make up the bridge or dorsum of the nose are then augmented in a fashion that is Customized to the needs of the patient. If a septoplasty or terminate reduction is needed then these procedures are performed at the same time. The skin of the noses, then laid back into position and the incisions are closed.
